Trusting and Waiting with God

I asked a question to my followers on Instagram the other day, “What season/theme does the Lord have you in right now?” You know what response I got most?

Overall, it was, “trusting” “patience” “having to have faith” and “resting in Him.”

I think all these things go hand in hand with one another. What does trusting God look like? What does it look like to live a life that is in complete dependency on the Lord?

Saying YES to every call. Every nudge. Every chance you get, say yes to Him. Because the reality is, we cannot grow in deeper trust for Him unless we see His faithfulness come through in our own life.

We cannot expect to grow in greater trust for someone if we don’t give them the opportunity to earn our trust. Jesus isn’t afraid of messing up. He is confident in Himself and wants you to take refuge in Him.

A lot of times, people will say how they have a hard time trusting the Lord because it’s hard. But you know what’s harder? Doing something that was orchestrated by God, without God. Without the insight, wisdom, power, strength, and direction of God, it’s impossible. It’s real hard to do it by yourself, sis.

You want the plans and success that God can give you, without the risk. I get it. I’ve been there. But you aren’t going to succeed that way.

Jesus wants your whole heart. No, He isn’t going to withhold anything from you.

I think some of us have a skewed perspective of how we think trusting Jesus looks like. If i’m being real, I used to think it would mean restriction of what I did, less fun, and I would lose out on things I wanted.

Looking at the infamous Psalm 37:4 verse, “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” We often take this verse and make it about ourselves of what we want in that moment. We take our selfish, tainted, broken heart and expect God to give us what we want with that mindset.

But let’s look at the verse right before it, “Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.” Psalm 37:3

We first trust in the Lord, have our actions reflect the posture of our heart, be faithful and obedient in the place God has us in and BECAUSE of that, He will give us the desires of our hearts. We need to be in alignment with God and the result of the sweet alignment with God will result in sweet sweet harmony with Him.

Your desires will shift from being temporary and worldly, to fruitful desires that God will give you freely. Also, throughout this process of growing in deeper trust with the Father, He is going to ask of small tasks. Small steps of obedience. Small risks.

Because why would He put a large task in front of you if He doesn’t trust you with the small tasks?

A few months ago, I was getting frustrated that my follower count wasn’t continuously increasing. The Lord reminded me of this and said to me, “Rachael, I don’t just give someone a million dollars. I see how they steward $20 and how generous they are with that. I then go to more, and more. If they can steward the small wisely, they know how to steward the larger amounts.”

Same thing goes with my Instagram followers. Why would He give me 100,000 followers, If I cannot honorably steward the 5,000 I have currently?

The Lord’s ways are higher and better than yours, my friend. We won’t always know the who, why, what, when, how and where. But His truth says it is better. Everywhere in scripture, you see God’s heart for His people. From beginning to end. Why would a God lead you astray?

Friend, if I can encourage you with anything:

Trust in Him because His plans are WAY better than yours. Seriously, not only are they better, but they are WAY more fun. Pursue Him through the trust fall, because He’s going to catch you and release you. But instead of leaving once released, He will be there every step of the way.
