Rest in the chaos.
When we hear these words, they clash right? Wrong..
See, the Lord has been showing me how rest is actually where everything flows from.
Rest is what sanctifies you.
Rest is what patches up the broken parts in your heart.
Rest is what redeems you.
Rest is what propels you.
Rest is what will keep your eyes locked with Him.
“It’s not by accident that this is one of the most commonly used commandments, “Do not fear.” It’s not by accident that it’s a very specific thing to address because He knew what our greatest weakness would be. He knew the greatest point of failure, the greatest point of turning from opportunity, the very thing that would keep us from the lifestyle of courage He designed for us.” - Bill Johnson
Fear is not real. Fear is a spirit. 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power, love, and self control.” So what the enemy will do is put a spirit of fear on you and you choose to come in agreement with it.
Fear is when you unlock your eyes with Jesus’ eyes, because there is no fear in perfect love.I have had friends who have were about to be kidnapped, and had no fear because she knew that fear is fake. You do not have to walk in agreement in fear because that is not your reality. Your reality is the goodness of God, not of bondage and anxiety. Jesus died for that and you get the reward of walking in that freedom.
Rest is being in the presence of the Lord.
Luke 10:38-42, “Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
Rest will set you free from anxiety and striving, friends. So many of us are looking for an answer to our problems, worrying, doubts, and hopelessness. Here is the answer: Rest. If we keep trying to show our love to Jesus through what we can do for Him, we will burn ourselves out for no reason. Jesus doesn’t need your work, He desires your heart surrendered to Him. He doesn’t need another Martha. He wants Mary’s to be with Him to listen and be transformed by His sweet teaching.
Rest at Jesus’ feet with surrender. Rest in the truth of who our Father is, the promises He has promised us, and the joy that comes in the process. Rest will keep our eyes locked in with Jesus’ eyes.
If you find yourself being “too busy” to be with Jesus each day, reevaluate what you are filling your day with if it’s too busy to be with your source of life, rest, joy, and purpose. You were put on this earth not to be a busybody in the kingdom of God, but as a son/ daughter with a calling. You will not know that calling unless you know the man who created your calling. Be with Him.
